Over the past few weeks, I have been to more holiday parties than I care to admit. I mostly go for the company. And, every once in a while, even for the free food and drink. *frugal alert*
While I mingled with friends and colleagues, all while dodging THAT co-worker who can’t hold his liquor, a common theme emerged. “We love the holidays! We hate the cost!”
Not difficult to get behind that theory. The holidays tend to be a blast. After all, decorations, gift giving, family gatherings, and holiday parties are all fun and games 🙂
Add a holiday vacation to the mix and it is by far my favorite month of the year. Unfortunately, all this fun more often than not leaves bank accounts drained. And that reality tends to hit right around January.
( : Queue the perfect money challenges for 2018 : )
These twelve templates have been an awesome way to get out of holiday spend mode and right into savings mode. Not only can you boost up your savings account. But also pay down existing debt!
Additionally, you can try to challenge yourself every single month or alternate every two or three months. These challenges are great as well shortly before vacations. Or any other occasion you need to save up for.
I personally will be throwing myself head first into the January challenge for sure. Mainly to recover from all the holiday shopping and to get back into savings mode. It is fun to splurge in December. But watching my savings grow is fun too!
Who is up for a challenge?
Depending what day of the month it is, save that exact same dollar amount and stash it away somewhere. At the end of the month, you will end up with a sizable sum.
